Maintenance facilities and transshipment yard in
High Speed Rail Development for Regional Connectivity
(Section 2: Nakhon Ratchasima – Nong Khai)

Location:              Nakhon Ratchasima – Nong Khai Province, Thailand

Area:  20 buildings total more than 40,000 sq.m. in Natha Depot, with 30,000 sq.m. of buildings in residential area. 4 maintenance bases from Nakhon Ratchasima to Nong Khai. Each base contain 12-15 buildings, around 15,000 sq.m. each. And, the transshipment yard and container yard with 13 buildings total 20,000 sq.m.

Service Scope: Architectural Design Consultants for layout planning and building design.

Thai and Chinese government had signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Railway Infrastructure Development Cooperation that the two countries would jointly build the first standard- gauge railway in Thailand, which is 800 km. in length and supposed be conducive to the connectivity of the entire region.

The first phase of the project has been started in 2016 from Bangkok to Nakorn Ratchasima. 3 years later, the second phase from Nakorn Ratchasima to Nong Kai, which is 356 km. in length with 5 stations and maintenance facilities had followed.

Emo-D had joined with an experienced engineering team to design all high speed rail maintenance facilities. There are 4 maintenance bases laid along the route and 1 light maintenance depot in Natha, Nong Kai Province. The work was including layout planning and building design, which need to coordinate with various specialists in railway track works, maintenance works, etc.

Moreover, to complete objective of railway transportation, which not only service passengers, the project is also included a transshipment yard to support freight trains located in Natha next to depot. This fully equipped transshipment yard with spacious container yards, warehouses and custom buildings, will be a one-stop service import- export center in north-eastern of Thailand.
